There is a new outbreak which started on August 20th 2025 in the Kasai province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Africa).
The outbreak was declared on 4th September 2025.

Timeline
On 20 August, the first known index case of the outbreak, a 34-year old pregnant woman who was a resident of Boulapé in the Boulapé health zone was admitted to Bulape General Reference Hospital and died of multiple organ failure on 25 August.
On 4 September the Ebola Outbreak of 2025 was declared.
On September 7 the head of the Mweka health zone Dr. Amitié Bukidi said all 4 health zones (Boulapé, Mweka, Kakenge and Mushenge) of Mweka Territory had received suspected cases.

Vaccination is critical to stopping this spread of Ebola.
There is risk of cross border spread due to the close proximity of Angola, so it is vital that people are vigilant to any symptoms, and to seek medical treatment immediately.
Symptoms of Ebola
Ebola symptoms begin suddenly, 2 to 21 days after infection, with a fever, sore throat, severe weakness, muscle pain and headache.
Later, symptoms can include vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, a rash, and impaired kidney and liver function. In severe cases, internal and external bleeding from areas like the mouth and eyes can occur.
